About Dinoswords

"Small and sweet, yet animistic and earthy." -- Matthew Durand

What is this?
I like to make sounds and music. Under the name Dinoswords, I mostly play a little nylon string guitar. I record stuff on my laptop in my apartment. Sometimes I use an electric guitar or other instruments, or I make digital music. Lately I have been getting more into beats.

I'm not a "singer". I can barely play the guitar. I just make what I am able, because I like it. Essentially, I'm trying to make the music I want to listen to.

What's up with the name "Dinoswords"?
I like dinosaurs. I like swords. It was a stupid name and I just liked it. I can't take myself too seriously with a name like that.

Inspiration is...?
Winter, cold, snow and dirt. Northern lights, northern forests. The tender feeling of happy hope tinged with bittersweet fearful sadness. Love and loss. Magic. The struggle between human and monster.

Do you play shows?
No, not right now.

I'd like to, but I haven't figured out how to do it in a way that I'd like. I'd like to put on a really fun show, and I don't think I could pull that off as a solo "girl with a guitar". And coordinating a backing band seems like waaay too much trouble for my dorky songs.

So, my plan right now is to build an animatronic double of myself that I will share the stage with. We'll see what happens.

What else do you do?
See, I get to ask myself this question! I make paintings.
